HOW TO SUBMIT FILES FOR MAP GENERATION |

Garmin Units: We can
process files from Garmin GPS/Sounder units. Garmin *.gdb format, Garmin
*.mps format, or GPS eXchange format. Check the track log and ensure a depth
field is included in the information. Send this file via
email or via our file submission
page. |
- Garmin files are of minimal size.
Email is the easiest send method.
- Always keep a copy of the file sent.

Lowrance Units: Data processed from Lowrance GPS/Sounder units are
from the Sonar Log recording Function. These files will be in the *.slg
format. NEW!! We can now map BOTTOM HARDNESS from a sonar log file. Send
this file via
email or via our file submission
page. |

Sonar Logs are relatively large files.
File submission page is
recommended.

Sonar Logs usually can hold about a hour and a half of
recording. User may need to save this file on their unit and start another
recording. Sorry this is a limit of MS Excel the output format of the
Sonar Log Viewer.

Humminbird Units: In the works. Humminbird users need to process
files from their SD card with the SON2XTF software available from
Humminbird. Send the *xtf file via
email or via our file submission
page. |
- The Son2xtf software can be found under you Humminbird account. This
should be the same place you downloaded your HumminbirdPC software.

| What is the best way to record information
for file processing? |
Before we use to ask that you start and stop recording
(tracks garmin, sonar log Lowrance) for each area you want mapped. Now with
all our sounding in MS Access database just keep on fishing and recording. |
| How many sounding do you need for an area
to be mapped? |
The more soundings for an area the better the detail of the
map. |
| Any hints on mapping an area? |
If your mapping a shoreline area I like to fish close to the
bank recording as I fish. I may fish again deeper and keep recording or just
crank up the big motor and make a few passes recording the deeper areas off
the bank. For off-shore areas I will make a grid with passes on the big
motor or start on the structure and do an spiral outwards. |
| What do I get when I submit files for map
generation? |
I will load your soundings into our database. I'll plot your
data and look for areas that have sufficient sounds to generate maps. I will
then extra data for those areas and return via email 3D maps, and topo map
with Lat and Lon grids. |
| If I am a regular do
I get more? |
Of course! We have a secure area of our web. Access to all
maps for a particular lake are stored here. We'll give you unlimited access
to that lake. We also offer this service for purchase. |
